The standard applies to extendable tripods equipped with a fixed pin C according to DIN 14640 and specifies their dimensions, designation, material and design requirements as well as their maximum mass and marking. Tripods are mainly used to accommodate projectors and projector catwalks. The tripod described in this standard is mainly used indoors. When used outdoors, conditions such as wind load, subsurface and so on shall be taken into account. When fully extended, the maximum height to the top of the pin is 1 850 mm. In the maximum extended state, it shall be possible to accommodate a mass of up to 13 kg on the pin. Compared to the standard edition DIN 14683:2001-08, the tripod was redesigned and the requirements extended. After preparatory work by Working Group NA 031-04-09-10 AK "Stativ - DIN 14683" ("Tripod - DIN 14683") the standard was prepared by Working Committee NA 031-04-09 AA "Sonstige Ausrüstung - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 5" ("Other equipment - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 5") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW) at DIN.
This document replaces DIN 14683:2001-08 .
