Operators can be severely impeded and endangered by exhaust fumes when operating the fire-fighting centrifugal pumps at the rear of fire-fighting vehicles, the capstan or generator on rescue vehicles or crane trucks, and turntable ladders. The operators of portable pumps and generators may also be exposed to similar loads, depending on the wind direction. Exhaust gas metal hoses and couplings for exhaust gas metal hoses in accordance with this standard are intended to prevent this. Couplings for exhaust gas metal hoses standardize the ends of the exhaust pipes of fire-fighting vehicles, portable pumps and generators (exhaust pipe end) on the one hand and ensure the connections to exhaust systems (sleeves for exhaust systems) on the other hand. Changes were made to the existing November 2002 edition of DIN 14572 in order to take the higher exhaust gas temperatures of current power units into consideration. In particular, - the suitability for exhaust temperatures of around 600 °C for the exhaust hose with a sleeve of d1 = 50 mm outside diameter has been increased, - the inclusion of the temperature rating according to DIN EN ISO 13732-1 for contactable surfaces has been included. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-04-06 AA "Allgemeine Anforderungen an Feuerwehrfahrzeuge - Löschfahrzeuge - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 3" ("General requirements for fire fighting and rescue service vehicles - Fire fighting vehicles - Mirror committee for CEN/TC 192/WG 3") of DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
