Overview

The standard applies to group pumping appliances LF 20 and specifies additional and/or restrictive type-specific requirements for the general requirements given in DIN EN 1846-2, DIN EN 1846-3, E DIN 14502-2 and DIN 14502-3. Group pumping appliance LF 20 is a fire-fighting vehicle with a fire-fighting centrifugal pump driven by the vehicle motor with a nominal flow rate of 2 000 l/min, an installation for quick delivery of water or a hose reel, a fire water reservoir and fire-fighting equipment for the crew; this appliance is mainly intended for fire-fighting, the provision of water and for simple technical support and comprises an independent tactical unit with its crew consisting of a group (1/8). The vehicle designation has been changed from LF 20/16 to LF 20, as the nation-wide introduction of the digital BOS radio necessitates a uniform and mandatory designation of fire-fighting, medical and disaster control vehicles. Every time a connection is established, a data set, the so called operative-tactical address (OPTA), of the radio subscribers is shown in plain text format on the radio displays. The digital radio system necessitates therewith that all users/digital end devices have their own unique address (like an IP address on the internet or individual mobile numbers) and, as a result, that every device is clearly identifiable. Consequently, this presumes a uniform system when designating fire fighting, medical and disaster control vehicles. Regarding the allocation of uniform addresses for radios, the BDBOS has decided to use the "Richtlinie für die operativ-taktische Adresse (OPTA) im Digitalfunk der Behörden und Organisationen mit Sicherheitsaufgaben" ("Directive for the digital system operative-tactical address of the authorities and organizations responsible for safety") of the Ausschuss für Informations- und Kommunikationswesen des Arbeitskreises V (Working Committee for information and communication systems of Working Group V) nation-wide as a necessary technical standard and recommends it to the federal states for implementation. The following significant modifications have been made with respect to DIN 14530-11:2004-11 and DIN 14530-11/A1:2007-05: a) group pumping appliance HLF 20/16 has been transferred from DIN 14530-11 into the new Part 27 of DIN 14530; b) Amendment of the standard DIN 14530-11/A1:2007-05 has been incorporated; c) modification of the vehicle designation LF 20/16 to LF 20 due to the nation-wide introduction of digital BOS radio; d) the foreword has been newly formulated; e) the total mass has been increased to 14 500 kg and the mass reserve of at least 3 % of the total mass has been incorporated; f) recommendation of equal track widths at the front and rear axles for 4-wheel drive and use of single-wide tyres has been incorporated; g) set up of an energy balance of the vehicle according to E DIN 14502-2 is required; h) requirements for wheeled hose reels or equipment racks have been added; i) it shall be possible to manually operate pneumatically or electrically remote controlled shut-off devices without attaching additional auxiliaries; j) content of the fire water reservoir has been increased to 2 000 l of useable water; k) firefighting devices have been revised; l) standard load has been completely revised; m) all normative references have been adjusted; E DIN 14011-3, E DIN 14011-9, DIN 14365-1, DIN 14365-2:1998, DIN 14367, DIN V 14430, E DIN 14502-2:2004, DIN 14584, DIN 14811-1, E DIN 70020-2, DIN EN 1028-2 and DIN EN 1846-2:2002 have been deleted and DIN 14011, DIN 14330-1, DIN 14330-2, DIN 14430, E DIN 14502-2:2009-07, DIN 14502-3, DIN 14800-18, DIN 14811, DIN 14826-2, DIN EN 1846-2:2010-01 and DIN EN 15182-2 have been added; n) content of the standard, including bibliography, has been editorially revised. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 031-04-06 AA "Allgemeine Anforderungen an Feuerwehrfahrzeuge - Löschfahrzeuge - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 3" ("General requirements for fire service vehicles - Fire fighting vehicles - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 3") at DIN.
