DIN 14345:2012-05

The distributor is a water-carrying valve for the fire service and serves for distribution of fire extinguishing media from one (distributor B-CBC and C-DCD) or two (distributor BB-CBC) supply lines to several hose assemblies or, in special cases, to collect it in the reverse direction. The housing of the distributor BB-CBC, which has been newly incorporated in the standard, consists of a combination of distributor and collector with two B inlets analogous to DIN 14355. The standard specifies requirements, tests, designation and marking of the distributors. The previous, 30 year old edition has been mainly revised to include the distributor with two B inlets (BB-CBC) used in the former GDR. This distributor is mainly applied during use of pump water tankers, has proved successful and has therefore been added to their standard load. During the revision the following significant modifications have been made with respect to DIN 14345:1978-05: a) extension from two to three distributor types: C-DCD, B-CBC and BB-CBC, where type BB-CBC has been created in the style of GDR standard TGL 121-345:1982-07; b) term "distributor" has been revised; c) material requirements have been completely revised; d) requirements for the compressive strength and leak tightness, repair-related assemblies as well as designation have been revised; e) requirement of a handle and requirements for mobility of the valves of distributor BB-CBC; f) type and control tests have been deleted, conformity tests (verification) have been added instead; g) resistance factor has been deleted and test has been adapted to VDI/VDE 2173; h) normative references have been completely updated, DIN 31, DIN 259-1, DIN 934, DIN 1725-1, DIN 1725-2, DIN 1746-1, DIN 1747-1, DIN 1748-1, DIN 1749-1, DIN 3230-3, DIN 14307, DIN 14308 as well as DIN 53505 have been deleted and DIN 14307-1, DIN 14308-1, DIN EN 586-2, DIN EN 754-1, DIN EN 754-2, DIN EN 755-1, DIN EN 755-2, DIN EN 1706, DIN EN 12266-1, DIN EN ISO 228-1, DIN EN ISO 4032, DIN ISO 2768-1 as well as VDI/VDE 2173 have been added instead; i) content has been editorially revised and adapted to the current standard design rules.
