Graphical symbols which are used in the field of fire fighting, for example, in fire-brigade plans or fire department action plans for illustration of facilities present on properties, in buildings or structures are specified in DIN 14034-6. They also serve to indicate certain characteristics of parts of buildings. The standard has been amended in order to specify the designations of the symbolic meanings for stair enclosures, to incorporate the symbol for firefighting stairs and to design the symbol for stationary fire-extinguishing installations with a stationary monitor more clearly. During the opposition proceeding of the draft standard to this first amendment of the standard A1 of DIN 14034-6, oppositions necessitated the further supplement of the standard, so that the FNFW Working Committee NA 031-04-01 AA "Begriffe und Bildzeichen" ("Terms and pictograms") has decided to publish a second draft amendment as E DIN 14034-6/A2 which is under preparation. The second amendment of the standard DIN 14034-6/A2 is published in order to incorporate the symbols for fire curtains and the fire brigade access locks. The first amendment of the standard DIN 14034-6/A1 which has already been completed with this document will be published separately. A consolidated new version of DIN 14034-6 into which both amendments will be incorporated will be published once the works have been completed on the second amendment of the standard DIN 14034-6/A2. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 031-04-01 AA "Begriffe und Bildzeichen" ("Terms and pictograms") at DIN.
