With this first amendment A1 to the June 2010 edition of DIN 14011, the vehicle terms have been updated and expanded with regard to the use of aerial rescue vehicles. Furthermore, new firefighter helmet terms are included and references to withdrawn standards are removed. During the discussion of comments on the draft standard for this first amendment A1 of DIN 14011 (as E DIN 14011/A1:2016-04), further amendments to the standard were required due to the comments, so that the FNFW Working Committee NA 031-04-01 AA "Terms and symbols" decided to publish a second draft amendment as E DIN 14011/A2, which will be published in the first quarter of 2017. The second amendment DIN 14011/A2 of the standard is to include, among other things, new terms for foam concentrate discharge. The first amendment to DIN 14011/A1, which has already been completed with this document, will be published separately. A consolidated new version of DIN 14011, incorporating both amendments, will be published once work on the second amendment to DIN 14011/A2 has been completed. The DIN 14011 standard is purely a terminology standard and covers the need for nationwide uniform definitions of terms and definitions in firefighting and fire protection. The subsequently consolidated edition of the standard contains 453 definitions (including synonyms), divided into the following six main clauses: - Fire occurrence, extinguishing process, extinguishing water supply - Operational execution, operational tactics - Preventive fire protection - Fire service equipment - Information and communication - Organization, management, operational planning. The terms and definitions in this standard are intended for practical use in firefighting and fire protection. They are defined as simply as possible - in some cases without scientific precision. For example, the definitions of burning processes are limited to oxidation with oxygen. Furthermore, explosive substances and substances with a tendency to self-decay are not covered. In addition to the terms and definitions, the subsequently consolidated edition of the standard also contains explanations on the relationship to fire service regulation FwDV 100 and an alphabetical index. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-04-01 AA "Begriffe und Bildzeichen" ("Terms and pictograms") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
