Overview

This standard specifies general design and planning principles and applies to rescue stations of rescue services and locations for rescue service vehicles (spaces). This standard applies to new rescue stations to be built. For extensions to existing rescue stations, this document only applies to the new construction phases. Multi-storey buildings (for example, due to the local availability of limited plot sizes) shall be considered separately and constructed in accordance with this document. It should be noted that this standard does not apply to ambulance and patient transportation services or volunteer civil protection bases. The design and planning principles in accordance with this standard are intended to enable service providers and/or providers in accordance with a state rescue service law that provide patient transport and/or emergency rescue, cost bearers and administrations to set up or design rescue stations and locations for rescue service vehicles (spaces) in a functional manner. The relevant laws, ordinances and regulations shall be observed when planning rescue stations. The resulting work steps, such as work processes and risk assessment, shall be incorporated into the planning of rescue stations in accordance with this standard. Safety-related operational requirements from national regulations and codes of practice are legally binding and take precedence over the requirements of the standard. If necessary, the minimum requirements of this standard shall be adapted to local specifics, but with the proviso that the requirements of this standard for the type and size of the rooms are not compromised. Compliance with national regulations or special approval requirements shall be observed. This standard has been prepared by NA 053-01-02 AA "Krankenkraftfahrzeuge und deren medizinische und technische Ausstattung" ("Ambulances and its medical and technical equipment") at DIN Standards Committee Rescue Services and Hospital (NARK).
