Dry lining and partitioning work
Commentary on VOB/C — DIN 18340 and DIN 18299

(Please note: This publication is only available in German.)

In 2023, the VOB supplement was published with 21 new and revised standards of the VOB, including DIN 18340 and the technically revised DIN 18299. This may result in room for interpretation, which makes it difficult to put in practice. For this reason, DIN Media now offers an updated commentary on the two documents, which provides clarity of definition. Like the tried and tested previous editions, the commentary is extremely practice-orientated and deals with the questions and the sticking points that arise in everyday working life.

The following changes have been made:

  • Quality levels of plastering have been moved to the Annex
  • Execution of decorative coverings on ceilings and suspended ceilings have been summarized
  • Partitions and facings have been divided into several stages
  • New paragraphs on dry plasterwork and the associated task “loose covering” have been added

In addition, new drawings have been added to the DIN Media Commentary to improve clarity and optimize applicability. New examples can also be found in this updated 5th edition of “Dry lining and partitioning work”.

Reliable application of standards through expert knowledge and practical expertise

This technical commentary provides users with a work that supplies comprehensive and comprehensible answers to practical questions relating to DIN 18340 and DIN 18299. It eliminates vagueness relating to concepts and helps to put the content of the standards into practice. The commentary follows a clear structure:

  • DIN 18299
The commentary provides an informative introduction to DIN 18299 “General rules applying to all types of construction work”, followed by a complete original printout of the standard including the Annex. This is followed by the commentary, which guides you through the standard in clearly differentiated colours, specifying and fleshing out its content, providing background information and imparting expert knowledge.

  • DIN 18340
For this standard, too, the commentary first provides an introduction and the complete reprint of the original standard. This is followed by the annotated version of DIN 18340 “Dry lining and partitioning works”, in which (again colour-coded) valuable practical knowledge, detailed explanations, notes on development and possible perspectives are included.

In addition, the technical commentary contains an extensive list of definitions, which are explained in detail and in some cases with additional tables.
