Swimming pools as places for sport, competition and leisure play an important role and enrich our society in many ways. In order to monitor and reduce specific hazards in swimming pools, DIN has produced a series of standards defining the specifications and safety requirements. When these documents are followed, optimum safety can be ensured during the planning and construction phases and later during the operation of swimming pools.

This book brings together the most important standards relating to swimming pool facilities and swimming pool equipment and provides clear guidance for those with responsibilities in these areas. Since the previous edition, there have been some important changes to the included standards; the 5th edition now contains the relevant documents in line with the current state of technology, safety and standardization. The selection is aimed in particular - but not exclusively - at municipal operators.

Broad range of standards with many new features

With two new documents and ten revised standards, this 5th edition of “Swimming pool facilities and equipment” offers lots of new information. The range of topics is as broad as ever, from chlorinators and test methods for starting blocks or stair ladders to the alarm system for drowning accidents; almost everything that can be relevant to the operation of swimming pool facilities and equipment is covered in the included standards.

The following changes can be found in “Swimming pool facilities and equipment”:

• Newly included documents
  The new amendment A1 on chlorinators provides important information on protection and maintenance, while DIN 19643-5, which is also part of the DVGW collection, provides information on disinfection methods using bromine.
   
• Amended documents
  The most important changes in the 5th edition include the updates in parts 1 to 4 of DIN 19643 for the treatment of swimming and bathing pool water: Extensive additions and adjustments have been made to the content. There have also been significant developments in the DIN EN 13451 series for swimming pool equipment, affecting parts 1 to 3 and 11: amended requirements, new terms definitions and a new annex.

On almost 800 pages, "Swimming pool facilities and equipment" provides the most important documents for the sector in line with the current state of technology — indispensable for all operators of swimming pools, but also for experts, inspectors and authorities.
