The DIN 401 Handbook was created in response to the call for thematically summarized compilations of standards and, with its forty documents on the fundamentals and quality of steel and iron, offers a practical working aid in a handy format. Manufacturers, foundries and the processing industry will find the information they need here, as will testers and materials experts. This 7th edition contains a number of important changes, including

• A new document
  DIN EN ISO 9443 has been included for the first time and provides basic information on surface quality classes for steel bars and wire rod, from terms to ordering information, requirements and test methods.
   
• Revised documents
  Eight of the standards published here have been revised, including parts 1 to 3 of DIN EN ISO 15630 on test methods for reinforcing steels, DIN EN ISO 14248 on sampling of iron and steel and DIN EN ISO 10893-1 on non-destructive testing of steel pipes. The revisions range from editorial adjustments to added clauses, updated values and terms and new figures.

In addition, DIN Handbook 401 contains a list of published draft standards in the specialist area as well as a list of the standards contained in DIN Handbooks 401 to 405, sorted by title and standard number, and also provides references to comparable standards.
