Due to their load-bearing capacity, round steel link chains are the sling of choice and are indispensable in industry and transport, but also in many other areas of application. The diversity of possible applications is also reflected in the standardization of round steel link chains, which in turn is reflected in the large scope of this book: 800 pages with 49 documents provide users with a wealth of essential information on terms and labelling, technical delivery conditions and quality classes, specifications for use and maintenance, test certificates and environmental aspects. Overviews, examples and calculation notes round off the practical value of this publication. In this 3rd edition, nine new documents have been added and five have been revised.

Compendium of standards with many innovations for round steel link chains

Since the previous edition in 2010, there has been a lot of movement in the standardization of round steel link chains: The 49 documents in this collection of standards include a number of new and revised ones. The enclosed lists have also been completely revised and updated.

With this 3rd edition of "Round steel link chains" you will find:

• 9 newly included documents
  DIN 580 on lifting eye bolts is a valuable addition to the steel chain standards, the newly included DIN 685-100 provides additional relevant terms in German and English, and other new standards provide information on the quality classes of chains and accessories.
   
• 5 revised documents
  The important DIN 685-5 is now available in two languages (German/English), DIN 762-1 on chain strands made of round steel link chains has been given many new values; the content of Part 2 of this series of standards has also been significantly revised, as has DIN 766. Other changes mainly concern terms and editorial revisions.

DIN Taschenbuch 392 provides comprehensive lists of supplementary standards and draft standards from the following areas: Tests and test methods, materials and semi-finished products, mining, shipbuilding and marine technology, loading equipment on road vehicles, Supplementary grip devices for tyres of passenger cars and light duty vehicles.
