About this product

Steel and iron
Dimensional standards

Steel and iron are among the most important materials for construction and production, and their economic importance is just as great as their areas of application. This book (in German only) contains a large number of standards that reflect the various possible applications of steel and iron. The documents contain dimensions, tolerances and shape tolerances and are an invaluable source of knowledge for companies and individuals in the steel and iron sector.

DIN-Taschenbuch 28 contains 64 documents, including four Corrigenda. At over 800 pages, the scope of the book is enormous and shows how extensive the field of standardization is in this area.

DIN-Taschenbuch 28 comprises documents on the following topics:

  • Reinforcing steel
  • Steel bar
  • Crane rails, sections, channels, key steel
  • Structures for mining
  • Corrugated and tile sheet
  • Wire
  • Semi-finished products
  • Steel strip
  • Flat, rectangular, and round steel bars
  • Cold-formed and hollow sections
  • and much more

The annex contains a list of all the steel and iron standards included in the DIN Taschenbücher 28 and 401 to 405, sorted by standard number.

Many innovations in the area of dimensional standards

Much has happened since the previous edition was published in 2011: Many documents have been updated, others have been withdrawn, and new documents have been published. With the compilation in the 2025 edition of DIN Taschenbuch 28, you have a highly up-to-date wealth of knowledge from the field of standardization for steel and iron in your hands, which reflects the current state of the art.

The following changes have been made to the 11th edition of “Steel and iron - Dimensional standards”:

  • 4 new standards including their Corrigenda
DIN EN 10243 Parts 1 and 2 on steel die forgings deal with dimensional tolerances and are included along with their respective Corrigenda. The newly included DIN EN 10363 covers tolerances on dimensions and shape for patterned steel strip and plate/sheet cut from wide strip, and DIN EN 10365 deals with the dimensions and masses of hot rolled channels, I and H sections.

  • 13 revised documents
A total of 13 documents have been revised since the 10th edition of this title. The updates concern not only editorial and structural modifications, but also significant changes to content, such as in DIN EN 10051 from 2024, in which tolerances, limit dimensions and flatness measurements have been revised. One example of this is DIN EN ISO 1127 on stainless steel pipes, which, like many related documents, has received important corrections and new specifications.

With the partly essential changes and the four newly included standards and their Corrigenda, DIN-Taschenbuch 28 is once again a highly topical collection of standards that provides valuable services to specialists in the steel and iron sector in their everyday work.
