Overview

This prestandard is intended to be applied for all traffic management systems on public roads and associated items which have an effect on the safety of the system. All traffic management systems shall be subject to analysis in accordance with this prestandard in order to identify safety requirements. The standard differs from DIN V VDE V 0832-400:2008 as follows: a) Facilities for temporary use of hard shoulders have been added (Subclause 4.2, Tables 1 and 5 and Figure A.7). b) The description of traffic management systems in functional unity with road traffic signal systems has been changed with regard to easier comprehensibility (Subclause 5.5.2.3 and Table 4). c) The safety requirement for the interface between traffic management systems and road traffic signal systems has been defined (Subclause 5.5.2.3). d) The safety classes for combinations of variable message and steady light signals have been defined (Subclause 5.5.2.4 and Table 5). The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 713.3 "Straßenverkehrs-Signalanlagen" ("Road traffic signal systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
