This standard specifies a combustion method for the determination of the halogen content in materials by combustion in a closed, oxygen containing system (calorimetric bomb) and subsequent analysis of the combustion product. This method applies for solid samples with more than 0,025 g/kg halogen content. The limit of detection depends on the element, matrix and determination method. Halogenides present in the original sample or produced during the combustion step are not completely determined with this method. The responsible committee is UK 543.2 "Führungssysteme für Kabel und Leitungen" ("Cable management") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
