This standard defines the relative position of the three terminals to each other, to the joint and to the cable entry slot of the terminal box and the maximum dimensions of the cable slot entry as a function of the rated current as well as the minimum distances to the enclosure surfaces, the position of the terminals on the machine and the position and dimensions of the attachment flanges of the terminal box. The outline drawing in continuous lines of the terminal box is intended only to clarify the presentation. The arrangement of terminals applies to rotating electrical machines with three terminals and a rated voltage of 6,6 kV for which terminal pins under M12 are not allowed with regard to the operational plant or the size of the machine. Suitable connector systems can be used alternatively when the dimensions of the attachment flanges are equal. Terminal pins with a minimum thread of M16 shall be used for short-circuit power over 200 MVA irrespective of the provisions in DIN 46200. This standard also applies to the use of medium-voltage converters. At DIN and VDE the responsible Subcommittee is UK 311.1 "Elektrische Maschinen, Leistungen und Abmessungen" ("Electrical machinery, performance and dimensions") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies).
