This standard applies to totally-enclosed fan-cooled three phase asynchronous motors with squirrel-cage with standard dimensions and outputs according to DIN EN 50347 "General purpose 3 phase induction motors having standard dimensions and outputs - Frame numbers 56 to 315 and flange numbers 65 to 740" (see also IEC 60072-1), with specific electrical and mechanical designs according to DIN EN 60079-0 (VDE 0170-1) "Electrical apparatus for explosive gas atmospheres - Part 0: General requirements" for explosive atmospheres as well as according to preceding DIN EN 60079-1 (VDE 0170-5) "Explosive atmospheres - Part 1: Equipment protection by flameproof enclosures "d"" for type and testing of electrical equipment for type of protection flameproof enclosure "d", group II, for temperature classes T1 to T4. At DIN and VDE the responsible Subcommittee is UK 311.1 "Elektrische Maschinen, Leistungen und Abmessungen" ("Electrical machinery, performance and dimensions") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies).
