This pre-standard has been prepared to specifiy the special requirements and test methods for switchgear and controlgear assemblies to which appliances are connected for limited periods only. These switchgear and controlgear assemblies are intended to be installed in places, such as marinas, camping sites, market squares and electrical vehicles charging stations, and suitable to be operated by ordinary persons. It defines the specific requirements of assemblies as follows: - assemblies for which the rated voltage does not exceed 1 000 V for alternating voltage or 1 500 V for direct voltage; - stationary or movable assemblies with enclosures; - assemblies intended for use in connection with the generation, transmission, distribution and conversion of electric energy, and for the control of electric energy consuming equipment; - assemblies operated by ordinary persons provided the relevant specific requirements are met; - assemblies intended to be installed and used in places, such as marinas, camping sites, market squares and similar outdoor public areas or comparable sites; - assemblies intended for charging stations for electric vehicles. This pre-standard applies to all assemblies whether they are designed, manufactured and verified on a one-off basis or fully standardized and manufactured in quantity. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 431.1 "Niederspannungs-Schaltgerätekombinationen" ("Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
