This Technical Specification defines general concepts of wind energy generation systems and environmental boundary conditions for the description of system and component availability, service life expectancy, repairs and criteria for determining maintenance intervals. The basic approach is based on the assumption that a wind power plant can be modeled as a wind turbine representing a complete wind energy generation system. Seen from the connection point, the wind power plant consists of all wind energy generation systems, functional services and elements of the plant periphery. It clearly describes how the data is to be categorized and gives examples of how the data can be used to derive the availability indicators. The specification also defines the terminology and terms for logging the availability indicators based on energy generation. A generation unit includes all facilities up to the point of connection. Availability measurements are concerned with proportions of time and energy that a unit can deliver during operation, taking into account environmental aspects. Environmental aspects include wind and weather conditions, but also grid and station conditions. The responsible committee is DKE/K 383 "Windenergieanlagen" ("Wind turbines") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
