In order to support EN 50625-22, which covers the treatment of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) containing cathode ray tubes (CRTs) and flat panel displays, and thus meet the requirement of European Commission Mandate M/518, normative requirements (such as target and limit values of analysis) have been included in this Technical Specification as it may be revised to take into account both practical experience and changes in treatment technologies. This Technical Specification is intended to be used in combination with Part 3-1 of the series of standards. The responsible committee is DKE/K 191 "Umweltschutz und Nachhaltigkeit bei Produkten in der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik, Informationstechnik" ("Environmental protection and sustainability for products in electrotechnics, electronics, information technology") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
