Short description
The annual costs of remediation work to eliminate moisture damage and mould growth in buildings amount to billions of euros. The basic method for detecting and assessing mould damage is the microscopic analysis of material samples. Decisions on the type and extent of remediation in the affected rooms are made on the basis of the results of this method. To date, there has been no standardised description of the method, meaning that there is no uniform approach and assessment. It is therefore hardly possible to compare the results of different measurements. A consensus-based description of the method will make it possible in future to carry out round-robin-tests between the individual laboratories and to compare the results. The standard is addressed to samplers and laboratories.
