Short description
This standard derives a concept for an assessment in the scope of environmental health of the impact of bioaerosols in ambient air on human health. For this purpose, the state of knowledge on the health effects of bioaerosols is summarized. Due to the possible health relevance of exposure to bioaerosols, this standard provides assistance in recording these exposures in accordance with the relevant regulations and evaluating them from a point of view of public health, i.e. from the perspective of environmental health protection. For this purpose, the precautionary health approach includes sensitive groups of persons according to WHO. In this standard the possibilities but also the limits of the environmental health protection approach are shown. Furthermore, the assessment presented does not consider technical feasibility or economic aspects, which may play a role in the derivation of measures. The standard shows a concept how an environmental medical assessment of bioaerosol immissions, which are due to emissions from facilities or other sources, can be carried out. For this purpose, a corresponding decision flow scheme is provided in the Annex. If the assessment criteria specified in the standard are complied with, precautionary health protection is sufficiently ensured according to the current state of knowledge.
