Short description
This standard applies to processes in which wood-based materials and other substrates are coated using thermally reactivable adhesives and functional layers. When heat is applied, the adhesives or functional layers melt and/or soften. This thermoplastic behavior, which is exploited for bonding, can also become more thermoset through crosslinking after joining. In places, the illustrations can also be transferred to the application of pressure-sensitive adhesives. The standard shows how these machines and processes are structured, describes process connections and lists quality criteria for the process results. It focuses primarily on continuous processing but also on stationary processing. It always summarizes the state of the art and provides information and application recommendations. It is based on VDI 3412 Part 1.
