Short description
This standard specifies a conventional method for the measurement of methane at the surface of a landfill and, where appropriate, its immediate environment. For this purpose, a portable instrument equipped with a suction bell is used. The suction bell method is used to localise any existing landfill gas leaking points. Numerous individual measurements are carried out as part of a walkover survey. The measured values are subject to a large number of non-quantifiable influences and are not suitable as a basis for the calculation of emission rates.
