The basic connector of the URM connector family is a connector set with a connector/coupling configuration for two positions, characterized by a nominal diameter of the ferrule of 1,25 mm. It comprises two ferrules, which are under spring tension in direction of the optical axis. The connector comprises a single external coding, which may be applicable for the alignment and limitation of the relative position between the connector and the matching component. The mechanism for the optical alignment of the connectors is a rigid or flexible coupling sleeve. The contained drawings and measures are minimum requirements, which are important for the function during the plug and release operation with the respective coupling/connector component. The responsible committee involved is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
