The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is an international, non-profit scientific and educational society dedicated to providing total water solutions assuring the effective management of water. Founded in 1881, the Association is the largest organization of water supply professionals in the world.
Its members include more than 4,300 companies who supply roughly 80 percent of the drinking water in the USA and treat almost half of the waste water in that country. The total membership comprises 51,000 organizations who come from all branches of the water sector, including public water works, environmental experts, scientists and researchers.
More than 180 standards on water treatment and supply
The AWWA first published its consensus documents in 1908. Today there are more than 180 AWWA Standards. From source to storage, from treatment to distribution, AWWA Standards cover all areas of water treatment and supply.
