The committee responsible for the standard is NA 140-00-14-01 UA "Steckverbinder und Steckvorrichtungen" ("Electrical connectors and plug-and-socket devices") of DIN Standards Committee Electrical Engineering (NE). This standard is valid in connection with VG 96917-1 and VG 96917-2 for 2 pole connectors for cable cross-sections of 35 mm2 and 50 mm2. Components according to this standard are subject to approval; see VG 95211. Components according to this standard can be used at ambient temperatures from -46 °C to +85 °C.
