The components described in VG 95218-23 are multi-core cables with screen and protective cover, which are used for device wiring and as components for cables. Cables according to this standard are available as different types, both as halogen-free versions (with improved behavior in case of fire) and as halogen-containing versions with different operating temperatures. The detail standard specifies the special technical requirements and the tests for the respective component. This standard applies in conjunction with the generic standard VG 95218-2 and the components in accordance with this standard are subject to type testing in accordance with VG 95211. The components approved by the BAAINBw in accordance with VG 95218-23 can be viewed with their manufacturer in VG 95212. As of 1 January 2018 the requirements in this standard for the operating voltage (previously AC 600 V/ DC 600 V) will be changed to the standard international voltage levels (AC 600 V/ DC 900 V). This standard has been prepared by DIN Standards Committee Electrical Engineering (NE), Working Committee NA 140-00-05 AA "Kabel und Leitungen" ("Cables and wires").
