Overview

This standard is applicable to plug connections with shrouded contacts according to DIN EN 60309-2 (VDE 0623-20). For the application of such systems on vessels of the Deutsche Marine (German Navy), it is necessary to supplement the arrangements of the contact elements specified in DIN EN 60309-2 by stipulations regarding the position of the protective conductor contact element in the casing. The plug connection coded in this way or the cable assembled with these plug connections only matches the suitable power-supply network. Thus, confusion is avoided, and persons who have not been electrotechnically instructed are still able to establish the suitable or correct cable connection between power source and consumer in the various on-board power-supply networks.
