VG 84514:2012-11

This standard is applicable to grade GL-K3 slip stoppers used on vessels at ambient temperatures down to -20 °C. A slip stopper according to this standard consists of a slip stopper hook according to VG 84505, a certain number of common stud links according to VG 84529, an enlarged stud link according to VG 84530, a large end link according to VG 84534 and an end shackle according to VG 84503. These slip stoppers are a special type of chain stopper and used to fasten stud link anchor chain cables on deck according to VG 84510. With respect to edition VG 84514:1998-03 the series of nominal sizes has been extended up to 90 and the end link as specified in ISO 1704 has been superseded by a large end link according to VG 84534, amongst others. This VG standard gives the assembly, dimensions, masses, mechanical properties, technical specification and a designation example of the "slip stoppers". The committee responsible for this VG standard is NA 132-01-05 AA "Heben, Schleppen, Ankern" ("Heaving, towing, anchoring").
