This standard is applicable to grade GL-K3 stud link anchor chain cables used on vessels at ambient temperatures down to -20 °C. VG 84510 describes the assembly and mechanical properties of grade GL-K3 stud link anchor chain cables and consist of "n" shots of chain cable according to VG 84501, a three link adapter piece according to VG 84516, a kenter type joining shackle according to VG 84502, a chain connector according to VG 84539 and a so-called outboard swivel shot (the particularly strong front part of the anchor chain cable possibly present). With respect to edition VG 84510:1998-03 the series of nominal sizes has been extended up to 90, the term "common link" has been amended to "common stud link" (in accordance with to ISO 1704:2008) and the bases of calculation have been added in a new Annex A, amongst others. This VG standard gives the assembly, nominal sizes, mechanical properties, technical specification and a designation example. The dimensions can be determined with the bases of calculation presented in Annex A in accordance with the indicated formation rules. The committee responsible for this VG standard is NA 132-01-05 AA "Heben, Schleppen, Ankern" ("Heaving, towing, anchoring").
