DIN ISO 9943 contains the German translation of the International Standard ISO 9943:2009 "Shipbuilding - Ventilation and air-treatment of galley and pantries with cooking appliances". International design requirements and general considerations for the ventilation and air-treatment of galleys and pantries with cooking appliances onboard merchant seagoing ships are required. For the purposes of this standard, pantries with cooking appliances, referred to above, are those which contain appliances consuming more than the small amount of electrical power needed for example for hot-plates for keeping food warm. This International Standard applies for normal conditions in all waters except those encountered in extremely cold or hot climates. Users shall note that, while observing the requirements stated in this standard, they should at the same time ensure compliance with such statutory requirements, rules and regulations. Compared with DIN ISO 9943:1993-10, the following extensive amendments/requirements have been made, for example, enthalpy difference in psychometric charts have been included, a galley ventilation example and a galley ventilation/conditioning process have been included. ISO 9943 and DIN ISO 9943 have been prepared at Working Committee NA 132-02-03 AA "Lüftungs-, Klima- und Kältetechnik" ("Heating, ventilation and air conditioning").
