DIN ISO 9284:2014-06

This standard specifies the operational and technical requirements of, and gives guidance on, the installation, checking and maintenance of test-sieving machines. Test-sieving machines are used for determining the size distribution of bonded and coated abrasive macro-grains. This standard replaces DIN ISO 9284 "Abrasive grains - Test-sieving machines" (ISO 9284:1992) published in September 1996. The underlying International Standard ISO 9284:2013 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 29/SC 2 "Grinding wheels and abrasives" with participation of German experts. Working Group 7 of ISO/TC 29/SC 5, responsible for the preparation, prepares standards concerning grains of fused aluminium oxide and silicon carbide for bonded abrasives, coated abrasives and chip removal operations with loose abrasive grains. This includes standards concerning the designation, grain size distribution, sampling, analysis, testing or determination of physical properties.
