Overview

This document contains the German translation of International Standard ISO 8216-1:2010, which has been prepared in ISO/TC 28/SC 4 "Classifications and specifications" (secretariat: AFNOR, France). The responsible national committee is Working Committee NA 062-06-34 AA "Anforderungen an Heizöle und Schifffahrtsbrennstoffe" ("Requirements for fuel oils and marine fuels") of the Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products Standardization Committee (FAM) of NMP at DIN. The detailed classification of marine fuels within class F (petroleum fuels) is specified in this document. The document shall be used in conjunction with DIN ISO 8216-99. All fuels intended for use in marine applications can be used for many different purposes aboard ships. Many marine fuels based on petroleum residuals cannot be precisely defined, but still permit categorisation within this part of DIN ISO 8216.
