This standard covers the requirements for acetylene cylinders with and without fusible plugs and defines specific requirements for both types of cylinders. It specifies both the basic and type testing requirements for acetylene cylinders with and without fusible plugs with a maximum nominal water capacity of 150 l and requirements regarding production/batch test procedures for manufacturing of acetylene cylinders with porous material. The standard does not include details of the design of the cylinder shell; these are specified, for example, in ISO 9809-1, ISO 9809-3, ISO 4706 and ISO 7866. This document replaces the previous edition DIN EN 1800:2007-06. EN 1800:2006, ISO 3807-1:2000 and ISO 3807-2:2000 with their respective requirements have been merged into one standard. Furthermore, a test for the compressive strength of the porous material has been added and a calculation method as an alternative to the elevated temperature test has been added. The impact stability test and the procedure for establishing permissible acetylene/solvent concentrations for bundles have been deleted. They have been now included in DIN EN ISO 13088. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 016-00-03 "Druckgasflaschen und Ausrüstung; Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 23 und ISO/TC 58" ("Transportable gas cylinders and equipment; National mirror committee to CEN/TC 23 and ISO/TC 58") at DIN.
