This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with these requirements. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive ("presumption of conformity"). This part of ISO 16231 specifies a method to determine the centre of gravity of un-laden self-propelled machines, a method to determine the centre of gravity of laden machines and combinations with attachments, and methods to determine the static overturning angle. Requirements related to self-protective structures and ROPS are to be dealt with in a separate standard. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 16231-2:2015 prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 23 "Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry" in cooperation with Technical Committee CEN/TC 144 "Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry" within the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The national interests in the preparation of the standard have been represented by Committee NA 060-16-30 "Einzelthemen" ("Specific projects") of Section Landtechnik ("Agricultural machinery") at DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Stakeholders were involved in preparation of the standard.
