This is one of a number of parts of ISO 11127 dealing with the sampling and testing of non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasives. The various types of non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasives and requirements on each are contained in the various parts of ISO 11127. The ISO 11126 and ISO 11127 standard series have been drafted as a coherent set of International Standards on non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasives. Information on all parts of both standard series is given in Annex A. This part of ISO 11127 specifies a method of assessing whether a non-metallic blast-cleaning abrasive has a minimum hardness of 6 on Mohs' scale. The test described in this part of ISO 11127 is a pass/fail test and is not a method for the accurate determination of hardness. The committee responsible for this European Standard EN ISO 11127-4 is CEN/TC 139 "Paints and varnishes" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). The underlying International Standard ISO 11127-4 has been prepared by ISO/TC 35/SC 12 "Preparation of steel substrates before application of paints and related products" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 002-00-11 AA "Strahlmittel" ("Blast-cleaning abrasives") of the Coatings and Coating Materials Standards Committee (NAB).
