Within the context of the ISO/IEEE 11073 family of standards for device communication, this standard defines a common framework for making an abstract model of personal health data available in transport-independent transfer syntax required to establish logical connections between systems and to provide presentation capabilities and services needed to perform communication tasks. The protocol is optimized to personal health usage requirements and leverages commonly used methods and tools wherever possible. This document addresses the need for an openly defined, independent standard for translating the information profile into an interoperable transmission format that allows information to be exchanged between personal health devices and data processing devices (cell phones, personal computers, personal health appliances, and set top boxes). The standard differs from DIN EN ISO 11073-20601:2011-07 as follows: a) addition of the definitions of attribute, attribute change set, dynamic attribute, metric, observation attribute and static attribute; b) addition of missing attributes in the transmission tables, deletion of some attributes and corresponding adaptation of the program listings (Annexes G and H); c) addition of explanatory texts. The responsible committee for this standard is NA 063-07-02 AA "Interoperabilität" ("Interoperability") at DIN.
