Overview

This International Standard specifies the safety requirements of OLED tiles and OLED panels for use on DC power supplies up to 120 V or AC power supplies up to 50 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz for general indoor and outdoor lighting. An OLED panel is an independently operable unit of an OLED product that includes an OLED tile and means of connection to the electrical supply, such as connectors, PCB (printed circuit board), passive electronic components, and optionally a frame. The OLED tile is the smallest functional OLED light source that cannot be divided into smaller OLED light elements. Examples of the possible structure of OLED tiles and panels are shown in Annex A. OLED lighting systems consisting of OLED panels or modules are shown in Annex D. Currently, only test methods for DC-powered OLED panels are described. Requirements for AC-powered OLED panels are under consideration. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 521.1 "Elektrische Lampen" ("Electrical lamps") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
