This document defines a charging interface between small handheld multimedia devices and power-supply accessories, specifically chargers. Devices which can apply this standard are, for instance, mobile telephones, MP3 players, handheld radio devices or small handheld television receivers. The interface is a 2 mm barrel type charging interface. The scope does not include the whole charger nor does it include the internal functions of the device. Chargers and devices shall follow the applicable EMC and safety standards. The responsible committee is K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und -komponenten" ("Audio, video and multimedia systems, equipment and components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
