Overview

This part of IEC 61754 defines the standard interface dimensions for the type SF optical board connector that uses a normal glass fibre and the physical contact technique to connect flexible optical boards and ribbon fibres. Increasing number of assemblies exchange data via fibre optical fibres. In order to achieve modularity, plug-in capability shall be enabled. SF optical achieve this plug-in capability. The standard is directed at manufacturers and users of this connector. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
