This standard contains the minimum initial performance, test and measurement requirements and severities which a fibre optic pigtailed 1 310 nm upstream and 1 490 nm downstream wide wavelength division multiplexing (WWDM) passive optical network (PON) device must satisfy in order to be categorized as meeting the requirements of category C - controlled environments - as defined in Annex A of IEC 61753-1:2007. Annex B of this standard provides information concerning the function of the 1 310 nm upstream and 1 490 nm downstream WWDM. The standard provides manufacturers and test laboratories with security regarding the specification of the test and serves as a reference for quality assurance. The products of the IEC 61754 standard series are used together with the standards of the series IEC 61755 (Optical interface) and IEC 61753 (performance standard) and are tested by standards of the series IEC 61300 (Basic test and measurement procedures). The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
