Overview

This part of IEC 61753 contains the minimum initial test and measurement requirements and severities which a fibre optical fuse shall satisfy in order for it to be categorised as meeting the requirements of single mode fibre pigtailed style optical fuse used in controlled environments. Optical performance specified in this document relates to in-line type configurations fuses only. The standard contains the minimum requirement, details as well as the severity levels for 19 different tests. Thus, the standard provides manufacturers and users with investment security and test laboratories and manufacturers with defined information on testing. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
