This part of DIN EN 61076 is a detail specification for indirect rectangular connectors. The connectors have additional contacts and features, enabling different switching arrangements that extend the functionality of the connectors in the IEC 60603-7 series of standards. The detail specification defines the mechanical, electrical and environmental requirements as well as the electrical transmission requirements for frequencies up to 3 000 MHz for connectors with up to 12 contacts, which are similar and compatible with the connectors of the IEC 60603-7 series of standards. They are generally used in symmetrical cabling systems in accordance with ISO/IEC 11801. These transmission requirements for the connectors are intended in particular for certain contact pairs that are separated from the other contact pairs by individual pair shields within the connector, for example. This detail specification describes unshielded and three shielded versions of connectors that are provided with insulated contact pairs: unshielded single pair with or without overall shield and shielded single pair and unshielded single pair, with or without overall shield. The standard replaces DIN EN 61076-3-110 (VDE 0687-76-3-110):2012-12. The following changes have been made: a) The connectors to IEC 61076-3-110 now support interchangeability with connectors to IEC 60603-7-82 (up to 2 000 MHz), in addition to their compatibility with connectors to IEC 60603-7-71 (up to 1 000 MHz) and IEC 60603-7-7 (up to 600 MHz) for earlier editions; b) The specifications cover electrical transmission requirements for frequencies up to 3 000 MHz. The responsible committee is DKE/K 651 "Steckverbinder" ("Connectors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
