This part of IEC 60317 forms an element of a series of standards which deals with insulated wires used for windings in electrical equipment. This series consists of three groups describing: 1) Winding wires - Test methods (IEC 60851); 2) Specifications for particular types of winding wires (IEC 60317); 3) Packaging of winding wires (IEC 60264). This part of IEC 60317 specifies the requirements for polyesterimide enamelled rectangular copper wire, class 180, with a sole coating based on polyesterimide resin, which may be modified providing it retains its chemical basis and meets all requirements for winding wires. The range of nominal conductor dimensions covered by this standard is: - width: between 2,0 mm minimum and 16,0 mm maximum; - thickness: between 0,80 mm minimum and 5,60 mm maximum. This standard covers class 1 and class 2 conductors within the entire range of nominal dimensions. The standardized combinations of width and thickness as well as the standardized width/thickness ratios have been specified in accordance with IEC 60317-0-2:2013. The responsible committee is DKE/K 413 "Wickeldrähte" ("Winding wires") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 60317-28:2008-04 .
