Overview

The requirements in this European Standard shall be considered as minimum requirements. If the receiving centre transceiver (RCT) is used together with or as an integral part of receiving/annunciation equipment, the requirements of the specific applications or their corresponding standards shall apply. The alarm transmission system requirements and classifications are defined within EN 50136-1. Different types of alarm systems may in addition to alarm messages also send other types of messages, for example, fault messages and status messages. These messages are also considered to be alarm messages. Messages used as line monitoring (for example polling) are not contained in the definition of alarm messages. The term "alarm" is used in this broad sense throughout the document. Additional requirements for the connection of different types of alarm systems are given in the relevant European Standards. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 713.1 "Gefahrenmelde- und Überwachungsanlagen" ("Alarm and surveillance systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
