DIN EN 4681-001:2017-09

The EN 4681 standard series describes requirements for electric cables in aluminium or copper-clad aluminium for general purposes in aircraft electrical systems. The standard DIN EN 4681-001 defines the properties, test methods, qualification and acceptance conditions for single-core and multi-core cables. The insulation of these cables is designed to withstand aircraft voltages at a frequency not exceeding 2000 Hz. Unless specified by individual product standards the maximum demonstrated voltage of rating of these cables is ac 115 V rms phase to neutral and 200 V rms phase to phase and 28 V d.c. They are divided into types, the characteristics of which are given in the product standards. Unless otherwise specified in the product standard, the tests defined in this standard apply. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 468-1:2012-12 as follows: a) the scope of the standard has been extended to include multi-core cables, the voltages for which these cables can be used have been set at 115 V rms AC voltage (phase to neutral) and 200 V rms (phase to phase) and 28 V DC voltage; b) a table with test procedures for single-core and multi-core cables has been added in Clause 6; c) references in the standard to the former Table 1 have been changed to the new tables; d) a new Subclause 7.1.4 has been added for initial sample tests, and the numbering of the following clauses has been changed accordingly; e) in 7.1.5, the previous note on the selection of reference cross-sections has been converted into standard text and partially changed. The standards of the EN 4681 series of standards have been prepared by the ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrotechnology, with the participation of German experts from DIN Aerospace Standards Committee. AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the aerospace sector. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
