The DIN EN 3682 standard series describes the characteristics of electrical connectors, plug and receptacle, with interchangeable inserts for aerospace use. The connectors of this connector family are derived from those of MIL-C-83527 and are intermateable and interchangeable with those. It is particularly suitable for use in racks in areas of severe environmental conditions onboard of aircraft in accordance with EN 2282. The operating temperature is 150 °C continuous. Part 004 defines the size 2 receptacle used in the family of rectangular electrical connectors for rack to panel, with interchangeable inserts. The plug corresponding to this receptacle is defined in EN 3682-005. The following modifications have been made with respect to the previous edition DIN EN 3682-004:2008-01: the identity block in clause 5 has been modified to include information of the contacts at delivery; - quadrax contacts are taken into account; - the standard has been editorially updated. The EN 3682 standard series has been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrical, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. ASD became the associated body (ASB) of CEN by the agreement dated 1986-10-03. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-03 AA "Elektrische Verbindungselemente" ("Connector") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
