The EN 3155 series of standards describe electrical contacts for use in aerospace fasteners. The new edition of Part 001 of the series of standards specifies the electrical, mechanical, environmental and dimensional characteristics of electrical contacts for use in electrical fasteners, including coaxial, triaxial and quadraxial contacts, the qualification, acceptance test and quality assurance conditions, and the test programs and tests. It is applicable to removable crimp contacts, wrap contacts, solder contacts used in connectors or in other elements of electrical connection. In case of conflict or missing information between the EN 3155-001 and the product standards, the product standard shall govern. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 3155-001:2009-10 as follows: a) the normative references have been expanded; b) two new definitions of terms have been included; c) the contact types contained in 4.1 have been supplemented by design B for non-removable contacts, for the other designs removable has been added to the description; d) in Table 1 contact sizes have been omitted, contact size 23 has been added; e) in 5.1.5 wires according to EN 2083 and EN 4434 have also been permitted for the crimp contacts; f) Subclause 5.3 for the metallic protective coating has been largely changed; g) the details on the tests according to Parts 101, 210, 301, 305, 402, 403, 415, 416 and 418 of the EN 2591 series of standards has been revised; h) in Table 3 and Table 16 (previously Table 9), contact size 23 has been added; i) Clause 9 on quality assurance has been revised and some subclauses have expanded; j) in Table 17 (previously Table 10), the crimp ranges from 2 to 4/0 have been omitted; k) the marking in 10.2 and storage in Clause 13 have been revised. The EN 3155 series of standards has been prepared by the ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrotechnology, with the participation of German experts from DIN Aerospace Standards Committee. AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the aerospace sector. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-03 AA "Elektrische Verbindungselemente" ("Electrical Connectors") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
