The standards of the EN 2997 series describe electrical connectors, circular, coupled by threaded ring, fire-resistant or non fire-resistant, operating temperatures -65 °C to 175 °C continuous or 200 °C continuous, 260 °C peak. This family of connectors is derived from MIL-DTL-83723 series III, type T which it is intermateable with. It is particularly suitable for use on aircraft engines and in zones of severe environmental conditions on board aircraft, applying EN 2282. The standard DIN EN 2997-001 specifies the general characteristics, the conditions for qualification acceptance and quality assurance, and the test programs and groups. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 2997-001:2011-10 as follows: a) the SF type has been newly introduced for free plug connectors; b) this has been taken into account in the test according to EN 2591, whereby there were also changes for the other models; c) values for contact size 22 have been included in the dimensions of the gauges for testing contacts and existing values changed; d) the designation blocks for protective caps and dummy receptacles have been replaced by references to the product standards. These standards of the EN 2997 standard series have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-03 AA "Elektrische Verbindungselemente" ("Connector") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
