Overview

Work in or adjacent to tracks, if not carried out with the appropriate safety-related measures, can pose a risk to the health and safety of personnel at construction sites. It is therefore essential that personnel involved in work in or adjacent to tracks are competent to carry out the activities listed in this standard. As job descriptions may vary from country to country and from company to company, this standard specifies the activities to be carried out. The job descriptions should specify the activities involved in these operations. Safety-related operational requirements in national regulations are legally binding. No presumption of conformity for national health and safety regulations may be derived from the requirements in the EN. The responsible committee for this standard is NA 087-00-01-09 UA "Sicherheitsmaßnahmen während Gleisbauarbeiten" ("Safety protection on the track during work") at DIN.
